Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "kdelibs" and "plasma-desktop" packages and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

Generally a tidy and easy-to-use distro.

I've been disappointed lately that using the last two stable releases, to minor upgrades to the kernel have caused the OS to completely fail and quite difficult to wind-back or recover from. Generally a good distro for intermediate to beginners while allowing for a little more edginess but when the packaging cannot handle some relatively minor conflicts and then fails completely when it changes to a new kernel it makes me want to stick with distros I can rely upon more.

After using it for a couple of people I'm sysadmin for, it's still better than Mint and Arch for a stand alone self-maintained system for intermediate users.

As much as I like Arch it still runs into problems if you don't use exclusively the main-stream packages.

I am a long time user of Manjaro xfce and I can say it has been getting better and better. The stable releases have less issues and because the user base is growing, the support as well is more active and effective.
I expect Manjaro coupled with a solid Arch to become more and more popular and continue to grow.

I'm using Manjaro for about 3 years now, used Arch prior to Manjaro, I consider Manjaro to be a better Archlinux, the update process is more streamlined, so there's little to no breakage.
There's no bloat, the OS runs fast, it's a stable rolling release.
